Super Plus BB Cream Review

Photobucket

My SuperPlus BB cream arrived. I really like it! The colour of it is very faint and natural, it blends completely. This cream has UVA and UVB protection, which is a major plus!
For daily wear it's really nice, and you really don't need anything else on with it. No foundation, no powder on top, and the coverage was really even as it was.
Here's a snap;

The Gleam Cream has a little more brightness to it which makes me look healthyer, but it doesn't have sun protection and it really needs powder on top to prevent it it shining.
The BB cream was also less expensive, including shipping.

They are both great products, with a similar purpose, but I wouldn't agree with the article that said they were interchangeable.

AATP Pullip Collabouration

There has been something of a trend recently, in which certain brands have collabourated with Pullip brand dolls to make dolls wearing small versions of their designs.
While I do love both Lolita fashion, and dolls in general, most collabourations were sweet (angelic pretty) or classic (innocent world).
Now, they are catering to us gothlings, and working with one of my favourite brands Alice and the Pirates!
I'm so excited! They look wonderful. Both of these beauties have instantly fallen into my wish list. Being collectors items, the collabouration dolls can get very expensive, very fast, but I'll always be on the lookout for these to add to my collection one day!

Making a tricorn hat

I made the hat I was wearing in the previous post myself, and took some pictures during the process. This is in no way supposed to be a proper tutorial, just a small process post.

I based my process on this tutorial for "how to turn a straw hat into a bonnet":

http://www.kimyasuda.com/costumes/strawbonnet.html

And just changed the shape from bonnet, to tricorn. Before covering it in the fabric and decorating.
First, I covered the main part of the hat in fabris and sewed the top edge to keep the peices together. Its basically a circle and a long strip attached around the edges.

Another long strip around the brim;

Pin it all down to make sure it covers properly then unpin a little bit at a time and glue down the unpinned parts as you go.
then turn the top-part material inside out so the edge is on the inside, and glue that down too.

Decorate!

The wole process took a while, but it wasn't at all difficult :)

Edinburgh meetup, August 18th

This meetup was a birthday celebration for Rachel! I hope you had a good day!

It was an early start, and a long day full of good friends and good fun. We had some really nice food in a small cafe near the natural history museum before going in.
Museums are so much fun, they're full of amazing things.

I decided to wear Sweet Kodona to this meetup!

Everyone was, as usual, fabulously well dressed!

Inside the Museum, we headed for the animals section:

I got a fright when I noticed this little guy on the glass, he wasn't obvious from far away.

Then there was the Technology section, which served to make me feel quite old with it's displays of mobile phones. There were phones in there I remember being released, and using........

We went to Yo!Sushi for dinner, which is always good fun, and soooo tasty.

It was a great day out.

Grocery Shopping Bonuses: Toys and Drinks

There were some fun things to be had while grocery shopping today! First, in the asian food superstore SeeWoo, I picked up this 'Melon Milk' drink:

I will forever be on a quest for Melon Soda and/or a good substitute in the UK... and let me tell you that this is not it! It tasted essentially like the innards of a melon pulped up, which sounds nice... but imagine a melon pulped up in a blender with milk.... it was pretty gross and left a horrid feeling in my mouth. I didn't even finish the can. So dissapointing! But sometimes, the nasty wierd drinks are the most interesting (lol)

Next, in the Supermarket Tesco, there was a display of toys from the new My little Pony series! As an unabashed pony fan, I picked my favourite and added it to my shopping.
There was some problem at the checkout, the item had an unknown number because apparently it wasn't 'on the system' yet because it's not supposed to be for sale... which made me wonder why there was a whole display of them out.
After a little to-ing and fro-ing, they offered to sell it to me for just under £5!

She's just the right height to have tea with the Professor on my bookcase.

BB Cream

The beauty world is buzzing about BB cream at the moment! BB Cream "Blemish Balm" is a big deal in the east at the moment. The product started out as a skin healing balm for use after cosmetic surgery, to reduce scars and rejuvinate the skin. But it worked so well, it became popular to use all the time!

Today's Sunday Secrets included one about it;

This reminded me I was planning this post since seeing an article about BB Cream in a beauty magazine last week here in the UK, claiming it was a "miricle cure" of sorts.
However, BB Cream imitation formulas by UK brands are very expensive, I've seen them sold online for £70 and £80.
But there are alternatives, not creams that claim to BE BB Creams, but ones that seem to have the same properties and be a good substitute. I recently purchased this one from Illamasqua:
BoldPhotobucket
"Gleam Cream"
Honestly? I love it. It smoothes and perfects your whole face. I used it mixed with a little foundation and it covered completely, flawlessly, and gave my skin a porcelain finish. You don't need a primer under it or anything, and I don't use concealer with it. After taking it off, my skin feels much cleaner than it ever did after taking off makup without it.
this stuff can be applied before, mixed with, on top of, or instead of foundation. So far I've only tried it mixed with and instead of, and loved the way it looked both times.

Of course, as much as I love my subsitute cream, I wanted to try the real deal. So I bought this:
Photobucket
Super79 BB cream, from "The BBCream Shop"

Once it arrives, I'll do a review and comparison of it to the Gleam Cream perhaps.

Have any of you used BB Cream?
How do you find it?

Transport Museum Meetup

The Transport Museum was a big part in the lives of most people who grew up in or around Glasgow, so when they moved to a bigger, better, new location we just had to go and see it!

A firm favourite section of the museum is called "Old Street", where there is a street set up as it would have been in the victorian era in Glasgow. For the new incarnation of the Transport Museum this section was not only kept, but expanded to include shop interiors and access to a period subway train <3

Here I am, making friends with a funeral horse, who was pulling a beautiful black carridge complete with coffin.

Trains, running underground for over 100 years.

And the famous Tall Ship "The Glenlee"!
