Happy Easter everyone! The Glasgow Lolitas gathered to usher in spring with a picnic. Naturally, it was raining, so we spent a little while in the Willow Tea Rooms. But the weather soon picked up and we went out into the sun to share cake and take photos.
The majority of these photos were taken by Kerry, shown here in her fabulous handmade dress!
My outfit rundown for the day was as follows; OP - Btssb Apron - Heart E Everything else is offbrand (and I decorated the hat myself!)
Here are some things I've been drawing recently. The above peice was inspired by AatP's Vampire Forest print.This one was to illustrate a Summer/Gothic/Sweet style that I think could be a lovely option for the dark minded amoung us in this bright season.
First, a very velvety outfit I wore recently. It reminded me a little of Snow White, so we also took this picture; That capelet is one of my favourite accessories. It's cosy, but not heavy like a coat.

Now that my hair is back in it's normal black, and is just long enough to hold clips, I decided to look into getting Clip-in Ponytails to wear for the long-hair look, without having to actually grow it, or wear lots of small extensions that can be tricky to style. I bought them in a local shop for hair peices in order to try them against my hair and make sure they would match and/or my hair could support them.
They turned out to be just what I was looking for!
Today, I got dressed up for a day out. The spring weather is coming and it's too warm outside for a heavy coat. Perfect weather for my new, lightwieght one. Coat and Shoes - Metamorphose OP- BtSSB Hairband - Mary Magdalene
And one bonus picture, of me and my darling girl, Silver.
What's the typical image of a Lolita? An elegant lady? A princess perhaps? Alice, straight out of wonderland, a little victorian girl or a porcelain doll? All of the above? Or none of the above? I'd say it was a mixuture of elements from all of these, while still being undeniably modern.
The stereotype involves good manners, soft spoken ladies and refined hobbies.
If thats what you want to be, then go for it. Rock it, and be it.
But what if you don't? What if you don't want to be a princess? Or a reserved maiden? Here's some inspiration for those of us who like to break a rule or two!
Think of Mary in the film "The Secret Garden". She was told specifically not to leave her room, but in defiance, still crept out into the old mansion to explore. Imagine, if you like, instead of sipping tea by the window of your bedroom, pulling on an apron and crawling through an abandoned house. Maybe wear your bloomers long enough to be seen under your skirt.
Some musical inspiration I found to go with this image is the song Lolitapop Dollhouse;
This is a cover of the Momus original, but I couldn't find a decent version of that to post. However, after listening to it I really like this version too :)
